Big News for Homebuyers: Privacy Protection Is Here

On September 5, 2025, President Trump signed into law the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (H.R. 2808).

For too long, homebuyers have been hit with a flood of calls, texts, and emails from competing lenders immediately after applying for a mortgage — all because of a practice called “trigger leads.”

That ends now.

Here’s what the new law means:

-Trigger leads are now restricted, with only limited exceptions.
-Lenders must have consumer consent before personal data can be shared or sold.
-These protections take effect in March 2026.

Why this matters:

-Our clients can move forward with greater privacy and peace of mind.
-We can continue focusing on what matters most — guiding families through the mortgage process with clarity and confidence.
-This is a big step toward protecting consumers and restoring trust in our industry.

At the Kevin Brierton Team, we’ve always put client experience first, and this new law reinforces what we’ve stood for all along: protecting families and being a trusted advisor, not just a lender.
